If you must use a hub and cannot connect it directly at all, here are some considerations: 1. Choose a powered hub, not a passive hub, that plugs into the wall for power as well as computer.  This will ensure that there is enough power for all devices connected to the hub. 2. Choose a good quality brand.  USB hubs contain active USB chipsets which can sometimes cause clicks and pops if low quality. 3.
