First Take
Is my Mic 96k or JAM 96k compatible and able to work with Windows?
Though the more recently made MiC 96k and Jam 96k units are compatible with Windows as well as Mac and iOS devices, older MiC 96k and JAM 96k units (as well as original MiC and JAM) are only compatible with Mac and iOS.
To determine if your MiC 96k or Jam 96k is compatible with Windows, you will need to check what firmware version it is using.
Checking the firmware on a Windows 10 computer:
Connect the unit via USB cable to your computer:
- Right Click Start Menu and choose Device Manager
- Under Sound Video and Game Controllers right click MiC and choose Properties
- In the new window that appears, go to the Details tab
- Change the Property drop-down menu to "Hardware Ids"
- Check what is listed in the Value section.
If it is REV_0302 or 0303 it is a Windows Compatible model.
All other firmware versions are not compatible with Windows and are Mac and iPad/iPhone only (cannot be update to be Windows compatible).
Checking the firmware on an iPad or iPhone (lightning port only)
Connect your MiC or JAM to your iPad/iPhone using the dedicated lightning cable.
- Open your Settings app.
- Navigate to General > About.
- Select JAM 96k or MIC 96k from the list
If the firmware reported is 3.0.2 or 3.0.3 it is a Windows Compatible model.
All other firmware versions are not compatible with Windows and are Mac and iPad/iPhone only (cannot be update to be Windows compatible).
Checking the firmware on a Mac computer
Connect the unit via USB cable to your computer:
- Search for and open the utility program called "System Information.app"
- Go to USB section and locate MiC 96k.
- See Firmware in "Version" line item.
If the firmware reported is 3.0.2 or 3.0.3 it is a Windows Compatible model.
All other firmware versions are not compatible with Windows and are Mac and iPad/iPhone only (cannot be update to be Windows compatible).
