If using Symphony Desktop: Before connecting Symphony Desktop to your computer, check the firmware version that's currently on it by going to Page 3 of the System Settings screen on the touchscreen and tapping the 'Update' button and then confirming that the version it displays matches the version in the version.txt file of the SymphonyDesktopUpdate image in the installer package (open the installer package, double-click on the SymphonyDesktopUpdate image and then once it opens, double-click on the version.txt file to view the version and compare it to the one that's displayed in the Update screen of the Symphony Desktop).
If it's an earlier version, then you will need to update the firmware by connecting the USB stick that came with the unit (or any USB stick that's formatted to FAT-32) to your computer and dragging the SymphonyDesktopUpdate image from the installer package onto the USB stick, ejecting the USB stick, and then connecting it to the back of the Symphony Desktop and tapping the 'Update' button in Page 3 of the System Settings screen on the touchscreen and following the instructions. Once the Symphony Desktop is up to date (or if it already was), connect it to your Mac. -
If using Duet3: Before connecting Duet3 to your computer, press down and hold on the device's controller knob while connecting the device to your computer's USB. You will be prompted with a firmware update message- once you see it, you can let off the control knob and then click 'Yes' to update the firmware. Go ahead and update the firmware, even if you think it's already up to date.
