How Snapshots and Monitor Workflows work for Symphony Studio series

This is a quick reference to clarify which settings are saved with Snapshots, and which are saved with Monitor Workflows.

SNAPSHOTS DO SAVE

SYSTEM SETTINGS

OS Volume Control.

Display Brightness.

INPUTS

Input MIC Levels (rotary knobs).

Input state - Whether you are set to MIC input or LINE input. 

LINE input state; +4 (professional) or -10 (home electronics).

Soft Limit On/Off.

Polarity (phase) invert On/Off.

MIXERS

All fader levels.

All panner positions.

ALL Mutes and Solos across ALL channel types including the Output section.

HEADPHONE OUTPUTS

Mute, Dim and Sum states.

Headphone SOURCES IE; MIXER 1, MIXER 2, Software inputs (SW), Hardware inputs (HW).

OUTPUTS

The EQ Settings from the Monitor Workflows Room Correction tab.

SNAPSHOTS DON’T SAVE

48v status.

Which Mixer is viewed. IE: Mixer 1 (Aqua) or Mixer 2 (Yellow).

Speaker trims.

Speaker Delays settings.

Speaker Delays state on/off.

Audio sources in the Output section.

Speaker Sets in the Output section.

Analog Output Setup (ie: whether outputs are set to SPEAKER or LINE)

Talkback settings.

Which Monitor Workflow preset is chosen. For example, if you save a snapshot while a 7.1.4 Monitor Workflow is active, that Monitor Workflow choice will not be saved in the Snapshot.

MONITOR WORKFLOWS DO SAVE

These settings are stored in each Monitor Workflow preset automatically. You don’t have to “save” or “export” them. For example, If you make changes to any of the Monitor Workflows presets, and you then choose a different Monitor Workflow preset, say 7.1.4, and then go back to the 5.1 Preset, all of the changes you made to the 5.1 are still there. 

Bass management settings.

Speaker trims. 

Speaker Sets.

Speaker DELAYS settings.

Speaker DELAYS state on/off.

Playback sources.

MONITOR WORKFLOWS DON’T SAVE

Room Correction EQ (This is saved in Snapshots).

EQ State on/off.

LINE Output (+4 / -10) Settings.

Mutes & Solos (These can be saved in Snapshots and will persist no matter what Monitor Workflow is loaded).

Whether any outputs are set to LINE or SPEAKER (These settings persist regardless of Monitor Workflow preset or Snapshot).

THINGS THAT PERSIST NO MATTER WHAT SNAPSHOT YOU LOAD - THEY ARE “STICKY

Whatever Monitor Workflow preset you have chosen. (Snapshots don’t save the active Monitor Workflow).

Whether you are seeing MIXER 1 (Aqua) or MIXER 2 (yellow).

Output Channel State - Speaker or Line.
